Quick answer
Christmas bingo is played like regular bingo, but the squares are holiday words such as Santa, Reindeer, Stocking and Candy Cane. A caller draws words one at a time, players mark matching squares, and the first to complete a row, column or diagonal wins. The free center square counts for everyone. A game takes about 10 minutes.

Christmas bingo is one of the most played bingo games in America, and it shows up everywhere from second-grade holiday parties to office potlucks to the kitchen table after Christmas dinner. It works because nobody needs to learn anything new. If you can say “Rudolph,” you can play.
Christmas 2026 falls on Friday, December 25, so most school holiday parties will land in the week or two before. Office parties often run even earlier. Print your cards early and you are set.
How do you play Christmas bingo?
A caller reads holiday words, and players mark them until someone finishes a line.
- Print one card per player using the generator at the top of this page.
- Cut the word list at the bottom of the page into slips and put them in a stocking or Santa hat.
- Draw one slip at a time and read it aloud: “Gingerbread!”
- Players mark the square with a marker, a chip, or a mini marshmallow.
- The first player with five in a row (across, down or diagonal) shouts “Bingo!” Check their squares against the slips you have drawn.
The center square is free, so lines through the middle need only four words.
How many Christmas bingo cards should I print?
One per player plus about 10% extra. Since every card from the generator is unique, you can print 20 or 200 without any two matching. Set the number, press print, and use regular letter paper or festive red and green cardstock.
Christmas bingo patterns to try
After a straight-line game, switch to a holiday shape:
- Christmas tree: a triangle with a trunk, the most popular December pattern in bingo halls.
- Candy cane: a hooked line down the card.
- Star: great for a tree-topper round.
- Blackout: the whole card, saved for the last and biggest prize.
Ideas for every kind of Christmas party
- Classroom. Use crayons or candy markers and keep rounds to 10 minutes. Have small prizes for every child so nobody leaves sad. For more on running games with kids, see our classroom bingo guide.
- Office party. Pair Christmas bingo with a white-elephant gift exchange: each bingo winner gets to pick a gift first or steal one.
- Family night. Play after dinner while the dishes soak. Let the youngest grandchild be the caller.
- Senior center. Print cards in large type and call slowly. Our large print bingo cards work well for residents with low vision.
- Virtual family bingo. Email cards to relatives out of state and play together on a video call. Here’s how to run bingo on Zoom.
What are good prizes for Christmas bingo?
Stocking stuffers make perfect bingo prizes: candy canes, hot cocoa packets, ornaments, holiday socks, small puzzles, lip balm and $5 gift cards. For kids, try stickers, mini slinkies or a candy-filled ornament. Wrap each prize so the winner gets a present to open, which adds to the fun. More ideas are in our bingo prize guide.
