Card START-004

Every dad has his signature moves: the dad joke at dinner, the “who touched the thermostat?” patrol, the very specific way he flips burgers. Father’s Day bingo turns those habits into a game the whole family can play, with Dad as the unwitting caller. In 2027, Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20, which is right at the start of summer cookout season.

How do you play Father’s Day bingo?

You can play two ways.

Called game (classic):

  1. Print a card for each player using the generator at the top of this page.
  2. Cut the calling list at the bottom of the page into slips and put them in a baseball cap or toolbox.
  3. Draw one slip at a time and read it aloud.
  4. Players mark matching squares. The center square is free.
  5. First to five in a row wins.

Dad bingo (watch and listen):

  1. Hand out cards at the start of the cookout without telling Dad.
  2. Players mark squares when Dad says or does them: tells a “Hi Hungry, I’m Dad” joke, grabs the tongs, settles into the recliner.
  3. The first to complete a line reveals the game to Dad and reads out the evidence. Expect him to be proud.

How many Father’s Day bingo cards do I need?

One per player plus a couple of extras. For a family cookout of 15, print about 18 cards. If you play the called version for more than one round, print a fresh set for each round. Each card from the generator is different.

Fun variations

  • Custom Dad squares. Use the custom bingo card generator to add your dad’s famous lines and habits: “Turn off the lights,” “We’re making good time,” his favorite team, or the car he won’t stop talking about.
  • Grandpa edition. Grandfathers can play the classic version with our large print bingo cards layout.
  • Ballgame bingo. If the family is watching a game, pair this card with our baseball bingo cards.
  • Pattern rounds. After a straight line, try four corners or a blackout.

What prizes work for Father’s Day bingo?

Since the kids are often the winners, let the prize be a “Dad-approved” treat: a bag of beef jerky, a car air freshener, a new pair of fun socks, a golf ball, a bottle of barbecue sauce or a pocket flashlight. Or flip it: the winner gets to choose what Dad grills next. For more options, see our bingo prize ideas guide.

Tips for hosts

  • Keep the cards hidden. Dad bingo works best if he doesn’t know the squares. Of course, once he finds out, he’ll start doing them on purpose.
  • Include stepdads, grandpas and uncles. Every father figure at the party is fair game.
  • Play in the shade. Mid-June afternoons get hot. Set up near the cooler.
  • Make it a tradition. Save the winning cards each year in a folder and look back at them.
