Free Printable Meeting Buzzword Bingo Cards (Corporate Jargon Bingo)

Quick answer

Buzzword bingo is a lighthearted office game. Each player gets a card filled with corporate jargon like Circle Back, Synergy, Deep Dive and Low-Hanging Fruit. During a meeting or presentation, players quietly mark each phrase when someone says it. The first to complete a row, column or diagonal wins, ideally without shouting "Bingo!" in the middle of the quarterly review.

54 unique words. Each card uses 24. More words means more varied cards.

Every card shows an ID like START-001. Enter the same set code with the same settings to rebuild the exact same cards and check a winner.

Card START-004

Every workplace has its own dialect. Somewhere right now, a team is being asked to “double-click on that” before they “circle back” offline. Buzzword bingo is the long-running office joke that turns jargon into a game, and with the right crowd it’s a genuinely fun way to keep a long meeting lively. It also works as an icebreaker at offsites, retirement parties and holiday gatherings.

How do you play meeting buzzword bingo?

Players listen for phrases during a meeting and mark them off.

  1. Print one card per player from the generator at the top of this page, or share the PDF so remote coworkers can print their own.
  2. Before the meeting starts, agree on the rules (see below).
  3. During the meeting, mark each phrase when anyone says it. “Let’s take this offline” counts for “Take It Offline.”
  4. The first player with five in a row (center square free) wins.
  5. How you announce the win is part of the fun. A discreet chat message works. Standing up and shouting is best saved for parties.

How many buzzword bingo cards should I print?

One per participant. For a recurring meeting, print a fresh card each week so the game stays unpredictable. Each card from the generator is different, so the person sitting next to you won’t hear “synergy” and win at the same moment.

Ground rules that keep it friendly

  • Play in the open. Buzzword bingo works best when the whole team, manager included, knows it’s happening. Secret games can feel like mocking the speaker.
  • No forcing phrases. Saying “synergy” just to complete your own card is cheating. (Saying it to complete someone else’s card is just mean.)
  • Exact or close? Decide whether variations count: “touching base” for “Touch Base” is usually fine.
  • Respect client meetings. Save it for internal meetings, all-hands, offsites and parties.

Variations

  • All-hands edition. Pass out cards before a big company meeting and award a prize to the first bingo. Leaders who are in on the joke can sprinkle in phrases on purpose.
  • Virtual meeting bingo. On video calls, add squares like “You’re on Mute” and “Screen Share Fail.” Our tips for virtual bingo on Zoom cover sharing cards remotely.
  • Custom jargon. Use the custom bingo card generator to add your company’s acronyms, product code names and the CEO’s favorite saying.
  • Offsite icebreaker. Mix buzzword squares with our team building bingo cards for a full afternoon.
  • Retirement roast. At a send-off party, give guests buzzword cards in honor of the retiree’s favorite phrases. See our retirement party bingo for more.

Prize ideas for office bingo

Keep prizes small and fun: a coffee shop gift card, a “skip one meeting” pass (manager-approved), a desk plant, fancy snacks, a novelty mug that says “Per My Last Email,” or first choice of lunch spot for the team outing. Our bingo prize ideas has more.

Why buzzword bingo works

It gives people a reason to listen closely, it diffuses frustration with a shared laugh, and it tends to make everyone, especially presenters, a little more aware of their own jargon. For running bigger office game events, our guide on how to host a bingo night applies just as well to the break room.

Frequently asked questions

Where did buzzword bingo come from?

Buzzword bingo became a common office in-joke in the US in the 1990s as a way to poke fun at management jargon, and a Dilbert comic strip helped make it famous.

Is buzzword bingo appropriate to play at work?

Played openly and with good humor, it can be a fun team ritual, especially at offsites or all-hands parties. Avoid playing secretly during an important client meeting.

Can I add my company's own jargon?

Yes. Paste your team's favorite acronyms and catchphrases into the custom bingo card generator to make cards that are funnier because they're specific.
