Quick answer
Yes. Bingo is legal in Kansas when it is run by a licensed nonprofit religious, charitable, fraternal, educational or veterans group, and the Kansas Department of Revenue issues the licenses. The state sets no minimum age for call bingo, but you must be 18 to buy instant bingo (pull-tab) tickets. Real-money online bingo is not legal, and sweepstakes sites currently operate without a state ban.

Is bingo legal in Kansas?
Yes, as long as a qualified nonprofit runs it. Kansas voters amended the state constitution to allow charitable bingo and raffles, and the Kansas Department of Revenue licenses the groups that play.
Only five kinds of nonprofits qualify: religious, charitable, fraternal, educational and veterans organizations. The state recognizes two bingo formats. Call bingo is the classic game with a caller and paper or electronic cards. Instant bingo is what most people call pull-tabs, and a 2018 law (HB 2194) opened the door to instant bingo vending machines.
Kansas also has tribal casinos run by four resident tribes in the northeast corner of the state, and some of them keep live bingo on the schedule.
How old do you have to be to play bingo in Kansas?
There is no statewide minimum age for call bingo. The Department of Revenue’s charitable gaming page says plainly that there is no age limit to play call bingo games, but each licensee may set its own minimum.
Instant bingo is different. You must be 18 to buy pull-tab tickets, and anyone working or helping with a call or instant bingo game must also be 18. In practice, many halls post a house rule, so a 12-year-old may be welcome at one church game and turned away at another. Tribal casinos set their own age policies.
Can you play online bingo for real money in Kansas?
No. Kansas legalized sports betting in 2022, but it has not authorized online casino games, and charity bingo must be played in person at a licensed location. Any site offering cash bingo to Kansans is operating without a Kansas license.

Are sweepstakes bingo sites legal in Kansas?
They operate in a gray zone. Kansas has no law that names or bans sweepstakes casinos, and we found no attorney general or regulator action against them as of October 2026, so major dual-currency brands still accept Kansas players.
That is different from saying the state has approved them. These sites rely on a “no purchase necessary” model to argue they are not gambling, and Kansas has never tested that claim in a sweepstakes-specific law. Before you redeem prizes, read our sweepstakes bingo explainer.
Where can you play bingo in Kansas?
Most Kansas bingo happens at churches, veterans posts, fraternal lodges and licensed bingo premises run for charities. For a casino-style session, the tribal properties in Brown County are the best-known options. The venues we verified are listed in the table below.
Golden Eagle Casino near Horton holds weekly sessions in its entertainment center from Wednesday through Sunday. Sac & Fox Casino near Powhattan advertises bingo specials Sunday through Wednesday.
How to run a charity bingo game in Kansas
Kansas keeps the paperwork modest, but the rules on who can play the role of host are strict.
- Confirm your group qualifies. It must be a nonprofit religious, charitable, fraternal, educational or veterans organization.
- Apply to the Department of Revenue. A bingo organization license costs $25. If you own or lease out the building, a bingo premises license is $100. Applications can be filed through the department’s online Customer Service Center.
- Plan around the license year. Every charitable gaming license runs July 1 through June 30, so renew before summer.
- Respect the prize cap. Regular call bingo prizes are limited to $1,675 per session as of July 1, 2026.
- Staff with adults. Everyone selling, calling or checking cards must be 18 or older.
- Buy from a licensed distributor and keep records of receipts and prizes.
Raising money with a raffle instead? Kansas requires a raffle license only once ticket sales top $25,000 in a fiscal year. For practical tips on prizes and volunteers, see our bingo fundraiser guide. Players near Kansas City can compare the rules across the line in Missouri.
