Is bingo legal in Indiana?
Yes. Charity bingo is legal under Indiana Code Article 4-32.3, and the Charity Gaming Division of the Indiana Gaming Commission licenses every game. The same division oversees raffles, pull-tabs, charity game nights, door prizes and guessing games.
Indiana’s statute even defines the game the way a hall regular would: each player gets at least one card with a 5x5 grid of numbers from 1 to 75, the familiar 75-ball format.
The commission takes charity gaming seriously. It runs in-person training sessions for nonprofits around the state, publishes disciplinary actions, and tests and approves bingo supplies before they can be used.

Are sweepstakes bingo sites legal in Indiana?
No. Gov. Mike Braun signed HB 1052 in March 2026, making Indiana the first state to ban sweepstakes casinos that year. The law took effect July 1, 2026.

Does Indiana allow electronic pull-tabs at bingo halls?
Yes, under commission rules. Indiana’s charity gaming program now includes electronic pull-tab systems, and the Gaming Commission adopted an interim rule (LSA #25-645) covering electronic pull-tab and raffle systems. It also publishes six-month reports on electronic pull-tab play.
For bingo players, that means some halls offer screen-based pull-tabs between games alongside the classic paper tickets. Both count as charity gaming and both are 18+.

How to run a charity bingo game in Indiana
Indiana’s process starts with becoming a “qualified organization”:
- Get qualified. Your nonprofit must meet the commission’s qualified-organization requirements before it can apply for a gaming license.
- Take the training. The Charity Gaming Division offers free training, online and in person, for groups new to gaming.
- Apply for the right license, whether an annual bingo license or a license for a single event.
- Use licensed suppliers and approved equipment. Bingo paper and electronic devices must come from licensed distributors and be approved by the commission.
- Staff it with adults and file reports. Operators and workers must be 18 or older, and the commission requires financial reports after your events.
