Quick answer
90-ball bingo is the standard bingo game in the UK. Each ticket has 9 columns and 3 rows, with 15 numbers: five in each row and none in the blank squares. Numbers 1–90 are drawn, and each game pays three prizes in order: one line, two lines and a full house, which means covering all 15 numbers. There is no free space.
| Balls | 90 (numbered 1–90) |
|---|---|
| Card | 9×3 ticket, 15 numbers (5 per row) |
| Free space | No |
| Most popular in | United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia |
| Typical game length | Usually 5–10 minutes for all three prizes |
What does a 90-ball bingo ticket look like?
A 90-ball ticket is a rectangle of 27 squares: 9 columns and 3 rows. Fifteen squares hold numbers and twelve are blank. Every row has exactly five numbers, and every column has at least one.
The columns each cover a fixed range:
| Column | Numbers | How many numbers |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1–9 | 9 |
| 2 | 10–19 | 10 |
| 3 | 20–29 | 10 |
| 4 | 30–39 | 10 |
| 5 | 40–49 | 10 |
| 6 | 50–59 | 10 |
| 7 | 60–69 | 10 |
| 8 | 70–79 | 10 |
| 9 | 80–90 | 11 |
Within a column, numbers run in ascending order from top to bottom. There is no free space, which is one of the big differences from the American 75-ball game.
What is a strip of six?
Tickets are often sold in strips of six. A strip contains all 90 numbers exactly once, so every ball called marks a number somewhere on your strip. Buying a full strip doesn’t guarantee a win, but it means you’re never sitting out a number.
How is a game of 90-ball bingo won?
Each game has three prizes, won in order on the same tickets:
- One line. The first player to mark all five numbers in any one horizontal row.
- Two lines. The first to complete any two rows on the same ticket.
- Full house. The first to mark all 15 numbers on a ticket.
The game keeps going after each win until the full house is claimed. The full house pays the most. Halls and sites may also run jackpots for a full house within a set number of calls.
Unlike 75-ball, there are no shapes or letters. The line, two lines and full house structure is the same every game, which makes 90-ball easy to follow.
How many calls does 90-ball bingo take?
We calculated how many calls it typically takes before someone wins each prize. These are medians from our simulations: half of games finish sooner, half later.
| Tickets in play | One line | Two lines | Full house |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Call 66 | Call 79 | Call 87 |
| 50 | Call 33 | Call 55 | Call 70 |
| 300 | Call 24 | Call 47 | Call 63 |
| 1,000 | Call 19 | Call 42 | Call 59 |
A single ticket needs about 85 calls on average to fill completely (15 × 91 ÷ 16 = 85.3). That’s why full house prizes are rarely won quickly. Try other scenarios in our bingo odds calculator.
How are 90-ball numbers called?
90-ball callers don’t use letters, because the ticket doesn’t have B-I-N-G-O columns. Instead, UK callers use a traditional nickname for each number, such as “Kelly’s Eye” for 1, “Legs Eleven” for 11 and “Two Fat Ladies” for 88, followed by the number itself. See all 90 in our bingo calls guide.

Can you play 90-ball bingo online in the US?
Mostly no, at least not for real money. New Jersey’s first dedicated real-money online bingo site, launched in 2016, offered 90-ball bingo, but licensed online bingo is rare in the US. Most US bingo apps use the 75-ball format. Read about the legal options in our online bingo guide.
